The Full Journey

My work focuses on how environment shapes the way founders think, feel and relate to the world around them.
I built a career over two decades which involved designing and delivering projects across residential, commercial and hospitality sectors. Over time, I became more interested in a consistent pattern: how the same person could feel clear, capable and effective in one setting, and distracted or unsettled in another, even when nothing else had changed. That observation led me to shift my focus from creating space to understanding how individuals respond to it.
This work centres on how a person's history with space continues to influence their behaviour. Early environments, sensory exposure, and lived experience form patterns that shape attention, perception and performance over time. These patterns tend to sit outside conscious awareness, yet they affect how a founder processes information, handles complexity and navigates pressure.
Through Envoqe, I developed a method for identifying these patterns and translating them into practical changes. The process begins with understanding how a founder has experienced space throughout their life, and how that influences how they think and operate today. From there, we define the conditions that support more effective thinking and better decision making.
Within Inside Startups, I lead the cognitive and environmental layer of the model. I work alongside the team to ensure that the spaces founders operate within are aligned with the level of thinking their role requires. The aim is to remove unnecessary cognitive friction and create conditions where clear judgement and effective leadership can hold under sustained pressure.
Where Sarah Operates
Understanding how an individual's history with space shapes their current responses. The foundation of all Envoqe work.
Translating spatial identity insights into practical frameworks that help founders and leaders create environments that support the way they think and operate.
Working with the Inside Startups team to address the environmental layer of founder performance. The spaces leaders inhabit directly affect how they think, respond, and lead.
Assessing current work and living environments to identify sources of friction, distraction, and misalignment with the demands of the role.
Defining how and where different types of work take place, aligning environments with the type of thinking required.
Supporting founders in making informed choices about offices, homes, and working setups, based on how those environments will influence behaviour and performance.
Why This Matters
Founders spend most of their time making decisions.
The environment they work in influences how those decisions are approached and processed. Light, noise, layout and sensory input all affect attention, energy and mental load across the day.
When these conditions are aligned with the demands of the role, thinking becomes more consistent and decisions require less effort. When they are misaligned, friction builds and output becomes harder to maintain.
This work ensures that the spaces founders operate within support the level of thinking their role requires.
