The Full Journey
The success of a company is shaped by the decisions made by its founder. Those decisions emerge over thousands of hours spent reading, thinking, writing, negotiating and solving problems. They are formed within spaces that become part of the daily experience of building a business.
My work examines that relationship between founder and environment. I look at the spatial contexts in which people spend their lives and the influence those environments have on the way they think, the way they respond to pressure and the way they experience the demands of leadership. A founder may change strategy, restructure a team or raise another round of investment, yet continue to work within conditions that make sustained concentration and clear judgement more difficult than they need to be.
I have spent more than twenty years observing people through the process of creating environments and analysing the ways those environments shape behaviour. That perspective has led me to view space as more than a backdrop to business activity. It forms part of the conditions within which business itself is created.
Inside Startups brings together people with different areas of expertise to support founders through the challenges of building companies. My contribution is the environmental perspective. I help founders understand the relationship between the spaces they inhabit and the way they think, then work with them to organise their work and their lives around conditions that better support the growth of their business and their own long-term performance.

Why This Matters
The environment is not a footnote.
Founders spend most of their time making decisions.
The environment they work in influences how those decisions are approached and processed. Light, noise, layout and sensory input all affect attention, energy and mental load across the day.
When these conditions are aligned with the demands of the role, thinking becomes more consistent and decisions require less effort. When they are misaligned, friction builds and output becomes harder to maintain.
This work ensures that the spaces founders operate within support the level of thinking their role requires.
